HDPE
- The Material of Choice
Why HDPE Pipe and Screen?
Designed for landfills, hazardous waste sites, mining projects and conduit, High Density Poly Ethylene pipe has
many advantages over PVC, cast iron, steel and cement piping.
Lightweight
HDPE weighs 75% to 90% less than cast
iron, steel or concrete pipe. Light weight and
easy handling make it ideal for quick installation in
difficult locations.
|
Unaffected by temperature
HDPE pipe is recommended for use at
temperatures between -180ºF to +190ºF, depending upon
the application.
|
Flexible
HDPE pipe can usually be bent to a
minimum radius of 10 to 20 times its own
diameter. This allows installation around many
obstructions without additional
fittings or connections.
|
Chemical and corrosion resistant
HDPE is chemically inert within its
temperature use range, and is not affected by most
chemical and corrosive environments.
|
Tough
HDPE resists damage from compressive
loads. Its exceptional resilience allows
it to conform to loads before it cracks or breaks.
|
Impact resistant
HDPE won't chip, crack or break when
subjected to sharp blows or rough handling.
|
| |
UV resistant
With carbon black added to protect
against UV degradation, HDPE pipe
may be installed or stored in exposed outdoor locations,
since it is not affected by long-term exposure to
sunlight.

The Importance Of An Open Area
The capacity of your collection system depends upon the area open to fluid flow. As the water well industry has known for years, slots deliver more open area per foot of pipe than holes.
For example, a 3/8-inch slot, 2 1/2-inches long, provides an open area of .937 square inches. A 3/8-inch hole has an open area of .110 square inches. Nine holes must be drilled to equal the slot.
Slots can be spaced in a close, even pattern in rows around the pipe, providing better zone coverage than holes, as shown in the illustration. Holes often clog with debris, while slots remain clear. It is possible to
select thin slot widths because of their high flow, gaining even more protection against clogging.
We offer custom lengths and slot configuration on HDPE straight pipe (not coiled). We supply either flush Barbvark® Quick Connect Pipe Joints or flush threaded ends. We precision machine our joints
on CNC lathes to insure quality and accuracy. We can modify them for special application.
