Tigre Tierra® pneumatic packers, designed and manufactured by Farwest Special Products Division, range from simple fixed-end style monitoring packers Viton & stainless steel, to steel reinforced Gland, sliding head style systems. In addition, we offer our patented Tigre Tierra wireline packer systems for permeability testing during core drilling. Special Products Division also carries a complete line of packer-related accessories.

All of our sliding-head packer components thread together for ease of service in the field and are designed modularly. This modular feature allows multiple packers to be installed in a single borehole to isolate various zones.

Many types of test and monitoring equipment can be incorporated into a Tigre Tierra packers system, including transducers, thermistors, conductivity probes, pH probes, injection ports, electric submersible pumps, bladder pumps, vertical turbine pumps and piston pumps.

All Tigre Tierra sliding-head packers use steel-reinforced glands for durability and resistance to cutting and abrasion. Steel-reinforced natural rubber assures positive sealing in rough, irregular borehols and excellent memory in returning to at-rest diameters. The steel-reinforced gland also features uniform expansion over its entire length and is extremely durable in open boreholes. The gland can double its run-in diamter so that the same packer can be used in a wide range of open or cased boreholes.

Construction options include stainless steel heads and glands clad with nitrile, neoprene, EPDM inflatable, or Viton.

Single and multiple Tigre Tierra pneumatic packer systems are available, with or without pumps and other testing equipment, for wells of 1.5 to 13 inches, open or cased.

Tigre Tierra® Wireline Inflatable Packers

Special Products Division's Tigre Tierra Wireline Packer* is a patented, time-saving method for conducting permeability testing during core drilling. The test is carried out with the drill string in place, reducing the time required to test in open or unstable formations. Available for all makes of wireline core barrels, Tigre Tierra wireline packers are easily repaired in the field in just minutes.

Our wireline packers incorporate a bumper that rests inside the throat of the drill bit. This positions both glands and protects the drill bit. When one bumper is worn, the gland union can be reversed and a new bumper placed toward the drill bit. The glands are constructed of steel-reinforced natural rubber, while the center tube is made of stainless steel.

A compression cap on the Tigre Tierra Seal Tee Assembly prevents pressure loss around the composite cable during testing. The composite cable itself is composed of a high pressure nylon tube for inflation and a cable to lower and retrieve the wireline packer. The seal tee terminated the drill string and has a one-inch NPT port for injection purposes.

For testing specific zones, a Tigre Tierra Zone Packer can be attached easily to the lower end of the wireline packer. The wireline packer is inverted, and the zone packer is connected by using a perforated tube the length of the required test zone. An inflation tuve connects with wireline packer and zone packer for simultaneous inflation.
