Farwest Special Products Division is a major manufacturer of Hydrophilic PVC screens and custom manufactured plastic pipe products. Out slotted PVC screen is commonly used for groundwater monitoring; water wells; leak detection; sub-surface horizontal drainage systems. Experience in dealing with difficult formations and conditions enables Farwest Special Products Division to recommend systems and configurations to meet your requirements.
We have invested in the future by installing fully automated slotting machines and computer programmed lathes. These high tech machines insure a uniform, quality product.
Hydrophilic PVC well screens are well-known for strength, dependability and durability. In addition to low initial cost, their resistance to corrosion and chemical attack nearly eliminates maintenance.
The low cost makes them practical for one-time use. By alternating blank and slotted pipe, it is possible to screen specific zones within a boring. Slot sizes can be specified for fine or coarse formations, with pipe sizes from ½" to 24" diameter. Assembly time is also cut substantially thereby increasing bottom line profits.
Slotted PVC Well Screens
Hydrophilic slotted screens can be fabricated from the lightest class PVC (class 100) to the heaviest (Schedule 80) in any specific length. Slot sizes range from .010 for use in fine formations to .250 for coarse formations. A wide variety of configurations are possible depending on slot size, spacing, and number of rows of slots. A row consists of a series of slots approximately 1" in length, normally spaced at ¼" intervals, running from one end of the pipe to the other. These are cut perpendicular to the axis of the pipe. Most pipe can take up to two rows more than the stated diameter of the pipe without significant structural weakening. Screens and pipe can be furnished with flush threaded or slip joints as well as conventional fittings.
Machined Slip Joints
- Flush O.D. and I.D.
- Machined for tight solvent-weld connection or non-solvent weld connection with screws or pop rivets.
- Available from ½" through 12" diameter.
Threaded, PVC Pipe and Screen for Groundwater Monitoring
- Hydrophilic flush joint threaded pipe and screen is designed with a 2-thread configuration which provides extremely fast, secure connections.
- Threaded joints are machined with beveled/interference compression fir shoulder seals to increase compressional strength.
- O-ring seals provide added insurance against leakage and prevent contaminants from entering at the threaded joint.
- Available in Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC.
- Threaded ends eliminate waiting time for solvent cement to cure. When sampling for trace level contaminants, threaded joints eliminate problems with solvents in water samples.
- Hydrophilic threads are precision machined on computer programmed lathes insuring quality and thread accuracy.
- Hydrophilic monitor pipe and screen equipped with threaded flush joints should be a vital part in the planning of your well monitoring program.
